Jill McKenny

My number one goal as an owner/stylist is making sure each and every client leaves the salon feeling and looking better than when they arrived. I have been in the industry since 2000 and I still feel that the most important part of being a great stylist is education. I have attended various classes and seminars specializing in areas from color technique to cutting and styling. Along with the hands-on classes that we hold in our own salon, my continuing education has taken me throughout the country, including trips to Chicago, New York City, and cities across the state of Michigan.

My ability to listen and understand my clients’ wants and needs, along with my own unique creativity, makes me a great stylist (and the occasional “therapist!”). Whether it’s multi-dimensional highlighting, color glazing, or just covering a few grey hairs, my forte is hair color. Along with a great haircut and style, the perfect hair color is the “icing on the cake.”

I am always accepting new clients and look forward to making your next color service or haircut and trip to Color Works Hair Company the very best that it can be!

Hillary Benjamin

I have been in the industry for 17 years and still very much love doing hair!! I feel as a stylist/owner it is so important that our salon as a whole continue their education yearly. It allows us to always offer the most up to date styles, color and techniques available. Being able to make clients feel great about what they look like is so gratifying!!

I work with a lot of razor cutting, color/highlighting techniques and curly hair. So, I guess you could say I specialize in a little bit of everything. We would love to see you in our salon and hope your experience is over the top wonderful!

Beverly Ten Eyck

Being in the industry since 1981 has given me years of experience and an incredible amount of education. I’m a previous salon owner for 12 years, and award winning stylist and an educator for Sebastian in both hair and make-up for 6 years.

Education is a second passion both receiving and giving. The first is making everyone I touch feel fabulous about the way they look.

Deana West

I’ve been a hair stylist since 2003 and love what I do. I graduated from Douglas J. Aveda institute in East Lansing. I have attended several hair shows and classes all over Michigan and some in Cincinnati, Chicago, and New York City. Making people look and feel good is truly what I love. I feel as though I have an outgoing personality and will do what I can to satisfy you!

Tim Sinclair

Doing hair has been a dream of mine ever since I was in third grade. Today, I’m living that dream and loving what I do! I’ve been to many hair shows throughout the U.S. but so far New York has been my favorite. I’m looking forward to going back soon.

Being a stylist has been very rewarding. Not only do I get to meet all different types of people, I get to make them feel great with a new cut or style. If you are looking for a new style or have a special event coming up, Color Works is the right place. I look forward to seeing you.

Jamie Harmon

As someone who grew up loving new looks in magazines, television, and out on the street I tried duplicating a lot of them! I’ve been in the industry since 2008 and I haven’t even put a dent in all of the education/opportunities that are offered in the beauty industry. I love taking risks and making dramatic changes.

Through the years I’ve taken classes in the Detroit area, Lansing, Cleveland, Chicago, and Las Vegas. All that knowledge that every class brings just amazes me. It always surprises me the way some trends move so quickly and others stay around for awhile. I truly love all areas of my job from dry, wet, razor and curly hair cutting to all aspects of coloring. Most recently I have been doing on site hair and make-up for a professional photographer. Everything from senior, engagement, wedding and boudoir shoots. I was recently invited to Chicago to work on an all day boudoir event. It was an amazing opportunity! Make-up is a big passion of mine. If you can teach someone how to apply it correctly they will always see that it is a way to enhance their nature beauty.

Lauren Gault

I have been in the beauty industry since 2008, after graduating from Douglas J. Aveda Institute in East Lansing. Even though I’ve only been in the industry a short while, I have still kept up my training with color and cutting classes throughout the years, and still plan on attending many more.I love having a variety of things to do through my day, from highlighting, all over colors, haircuts, and extensions. I do offer 100% human hair extensions, feel free to make a free consultation with me and we can discuss your options. I think it is very important to keep up on all the new trends and techniques so I can keep my clients happy! My goal for anyone sitting in my chair is to make sure they look and feel even more beautiful than when they came in!

Kristyn Ellis

The beauty industry is my passion. Clients frequently ask me what my favorite part of doing hair is and I can never seem to find an answer for them. I LOVE doing it all!! I graduated from Mott Community College’s Transitions school of cosmetology in August of 2012 and began my career at Color Works just a week and a half later.

In addition to proving hair services, I’ve also grown to genuinely enjoy doing special occasion and technical make-up. Teaching clients about our make-up line as well as how to properly apply it is very rewarding. I’ve done plenty of work outside of the salon to help fine tune my make-up skills. Day to day I continue to learn new and different techniques by watching countless tutorials and attending classes. I have found that continuing my education in both hair and make-up have proven to be very beneficial.

I couldn’t be happier to have started building my amazing clientele here and I look forward to meeting all of my future new clients!.

Jamie Crockett

Jamie joined our team in January of 2011. She is our full time go to person who helps holds the salon together. On top of the receptionist duties she also has taken on several of the managerial tasks that make this salon run. Jamie is a wonderful mother of five children which we believe is why she’s so great at multi-tasking. With her warm smile and great attitude she has been a pleasant addition to our team.

Heather Dull

Heather started working at Color Works in August after moving from Houghton Lake to Mt. Pleasant. With Heather’s background in customer service, she has been a perfect fit for the salon. You will always be greeted with her smiling face and positive attitude when you step into the salon. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, watching movies and being outside. Her passion for the beauty industry has pushed her in the direction of attending Cosmetology school in the fall.

Nick Kruger

In my career of 38 years I have worked in many salons in several cities and states. I have been a salon owner and a platform artist for two international companies in Hong Kong, Detroit and Toronto. With all of that I still get a rush giving my clients a great haircut and color. I entered this industry for the love of the Art and I continue today working for the satisfaction, it rewards me.
